I, Martha Virden being duly sworn do on oath say that I am the custodian of the family record of William Virden, deceased. That the original record was kept on the fly leaves of a Bible, published and dated AD 1817 printed by W. Greenough Boston. That the same was a small book of four by six inches in size and contained ?? in black leaves for family record. That in about 1846 the record was transcribed into a larger Bible having blanks for family records and of date 1846. That after said family record was so transcribed, the fly leaves on which such record was written in the first named book together with one of the covers of the same were torn off and lost or destroyed ant the book was afterward injured and nearly destroyed by being eaten by mice. That I now have both books in my possession and that they are the identical and same books herewith submitted to the Clerk of the District Court of Black Hawk County, Iowa. That the following is a true and correct copy of the record of the marriage of William Virden and Martha Williamson and the record of the births of their two oldest children as the same appears in the family record of the last named Bible of date 1846, viz:
